Thank you all for making
such a success!
Well, wasn't that a blast? After a shaky start involving an inflatable Dalek, a baseball bat, a failed stage dive and a question-mark pullover, the day kicked off with the classic Sylvester McCoy story Ghost Light. This was, of course, a prelude to the arrival our very special guest, Sylvester McCoy. And what a guest he was! Sylvester was so generous with the crowd, in interview, receiving questions, or talking one on one in the autograph queue. It's been a long time since I've seen such a frank, witty, open and charming speaker at a Doctor Who event or beyond.
As for the rest of the day, I hope you enjoyed reviewing the last classic series story, Survival, as well as our special presentation for the upcoming innovative game Timeshift, and the DWCT's reimagining of An Unearthly Child. Todd Beilby's View panel was well loved, with special thanks to Nathan for working the crowd with style and panache.
Finally it was wonderful to see such a large turnout- over 120 people! This made the final auction a great success, with a King Lear program, signed by the cast and donated by Sylvester, going for over $400!
Thank you all for coming. We haven't attempted such an event in a long time, and we're glad to know they are as popular as ever. To our regulars: thank you for your continued support.
To the new faces: welcome to the DWCA, and we hope to see you again. For those who thought about coming, but didn't: do come next time!
Brendan
