It's a bit tenuous, but here goes:

Get from Tom Baker to Russell Crowe in three moves, explaining how each is connected.

i.e. Tom Baker-(person a)-(person b)-(person c)-Russell Crowe

Tom Baker appeared in the movie Dungeons & Dragons, playing Halvarth.

Richard O'Brien also appeared in Dungeons & Dragons, playing Xilus. O'Brien is probably best known for playing Riff Raff in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Who could forget Tim Curry as Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show? Recent news has Curry cast as Dr Monroe in the forthcoming Burke and Hare.

The cast of Burke and Hare also includes David Schofield, who previously played Falco in Gladiator.

The best known star of Gladiator is Russell Crowe, playing Maximus.

So, Tom Baker  Richard O'Brien  Tim Curry  Richard Schofield  Russell Crowe.

But it may not be the chain you were looking for.
Through cosmic waste the Tardis flies
To taste the secret source of life
A presence science can't deny
Exists within outside behind
The latitude of the human mind
I am the Doctor.

Yup, not the chain I was looking for at all. But well done in getting there nonetheless.

The first connection is with someone he has worked alongside in Doctor Who, and not all of the connections are professional.

I told you it was tenuous.

Actually, I was tempted to say that Russell Crowe is a friend of Tom Baker's son Piers, who lives in New Zealand, and then challenge anyone to prove me wrong. As far as I know, Piers Bakes and Russell Crowe don't know each other.

But I guess I better turn my mind to a quiz question...

Hmm, I'm thinking it was a mistake to have two 'widely travelled' actors as my goalposts for this one. It's almost as if anyone who has seen enough film could get from a to b in any number of possible ways. You've all got some great connections going on, but still not the one I am looking for. My bad.

If anyone is bothered to try and get the specific chain I had in my head, here's a clue:

I wish I was a spaceman.
