Set in the 1920s fashion business it is a follow-up from Jean Marsh and Eileen Atkins' previous period drama Upstairs, Downstairs.

Season 1, Episode 1:
After nearly two decades of knowing about it I finally got to see The House of Eliott.
Two sisters Beatrice and Evangeline Eliott found themselves almost with no money after the death of their successful physician father. While being successful as a physician the father was also successful in spending money that has left the sisters in their current predicament leading to them to look for jobs.
A very interesting start to the series with very good performances from the actresses playing the sisters.

Season 1, Episode 7:
Really did not like the actress who did business with the girls as she was very arrogant.

Season 1, Episode 8:
Beatrice meets her former love for the first time in a long time and finds that he is married to someone else. Stella Gonet portrayed Beatrice very well here in showing us her anguish with this reunion.
Also what a shocking tragedy that came at the end.

Season 1, Episode 9:
Evy comes of age here and it looks like there is tension in the workplace as she and Beatrice have yet to agree on the right approach for the future of the business.
It sure was not a pleasant site for the rest of the workplace.

Season 1, Episode 10:
Poor Lydia as she got snubbed even from her own nieces (although that is probably not surprising) from the event she was organising.
Quite unexpected that Desmond's daughter Rose helped Beatrice and Evy reached a consensus.

Season 1, Episode 12.
Season 1 finale.
The girls have their first fashion show but encountered a problem which is soon sorted out.
An enjoyable final episode for the first season and the first season itself has been very good.

Found out from listening to The Christmas Invasion DVD commentary again that The Christmas Invasion feature someone from The House of Eliott.

From The Christmas Invasion synopsis in the Doctor Who Reference Guide:
"Out on the streets, a frantic mother tries to stop her husband and children from walking away with the crowd"

The frantic mother was played by Cathy Murphy who had played Tilly Watkins in The House of Eliott.

Season 2 begins on Ovation on Saturday January 23 7:30pm. However Ovation has recently been axed by Foxtel and it is unknown whether The House of Elliot will continue to be shown on the SBS replacement channel.

Season 2, Episode 1:
Quite an enjoyable opening episode to season 2.
The girls get a job offer in Paris and in retrospect now I guess I shouldn't have been surprise by the decision that Evy makes.
This episode a brief appearance by Colin Spaull, I soon had an inkling the episode was directed by Graeme Harper and was proven right by the end credits. After all this is not only time that director Harper had cast his old friend Spaull in something that he has directed as he had done so twice in Doctor Who in Revelation of the Daleks & Rise of the Cybermen/Age of Steel.

Season 2, Episode 2:
Directed by Graeme Harper.
What a shock about Desmond.
Nice to see Evy back.
What a trick that Jack's old flame (played the very beautiful Pippa Haywood) plays on Beatrice.
The first appearance of Toby Whithouse as Norman Foss. Whithouse was an actor before he became a writer.

Season 2, Episode 5:
Jack and Beatrice celebrates their first wedding anniversary (which is pretty fast since they were only married a few episodes ago) but encounter a very rough patch when the subject of children was brought up. Things are not helped with Jack feeling jealous as Beatrice has been spending more time with another man, jealously which is ultimately unwarranted with a surprising revelation about the other man. This revelation was mentioned very subtlely and not explicitly.
Alice Burgoyne's presence at the House of Eliott seems to have been eased despite the very dubious circumstances of her employment there.

Season 2, Episode 7:
What a terrible tragedy about Agnes.
So knew that Evie was not going to be alone in the cottage.

Season 2, Episode 11:
Penultimate episode of season 2.
Really feel for Evy on having to lose Alexander as he accepts the post of Ambassador to Italy and that he can't divorce Elizabeth to be with her.
Elmer Jeffard-Hendry seems to be an interesting character.
