Sunhill Fire an insider at the ABC has posted an announcement at Gallifrey saying that the ABC has officially passed on Torchwood.

Torchwood is now apparently at the centre of a bidding war betwen 7 and 10.

Sunhill Fire has stressed to add that it came from an official source from the very top and seems pretty sure of it.

You are mistaken,

TORCHWOOD will air on the ABC in 2007 confirmed by The Sydney Morning Herald in what we would get in 2007 for tv.

Sorry but your report is false for the Herald was given a list of what to expect from the respective networks.

Sorry to disapoint Wink

Either way, it looks like we'll still be getting Torchwood - even if we don't know which network it'll be screened on. Wink

Yes I saw that in the SMH and Kenny8 another insider at the ABC at Gallifrey responded by saying that report from the SMH is false.

Yay! I didn't think we'd get it at all, so that's a nice surprise Smile

I'd caution anyone from accepting the information published in either newspapers or by people online (even if they claim official or insider knowledge) as being guaranteed as the truth.

People misinterpret things, people who believe a decision will be made one way turn out to be wrong as the real decision makers don't always take the expected path, etc.

If you want to know for certain, contact the ABC directly and ask.

Torchwood not being bought by the ABC has finally been reported by TV WEEK in response to a letter from Bob. It also said that SBS has passed on it as well. Surprise that SBS decided not to buy Torchwood considering the fact that SBS did show Funland which is like the very adult version of Blackpool just as Torchwood is to Doctor Who. In fact Torchwood is slightly less adult than Funland was.

Thanks to ADAMK, the TV WEEK letter about Torchwood has been reported at Outpost Gallifrey which also says that there is no indication that any of the commercial stations will be picking it up despite what I posted in the original post of this thread.

Looks like we are going to have to find our own way of watching the series.

Now, maybe its just me, but is it a little strange that channel 9 is reporting on what channel 10 has bought the rights to???? Shocked

When I went to the channel 10 website and typed Torchwood into their keyword search, it all came up blank???

At the end of the day I don't suppose it matters, just as long as SOMEONE has bought the rights and it IS going to be shown!! So maybe this reply is a total waste of space and time!!!

'ninemsn' is a joint venture between a number of companies - it's not just Channel 9.

Aside from which, news is news. Saying that Channel 10 purchased a program is a very different thing from suggesting that people watch Channel 10 instead of Channel 9...

What are the odds Channel 9 schedules "Primeval" up against 'Torchwood" on Channel 10? It's happened before .....

Well it's a surprise to hear and read that the ABC and SBS have passed up Torchwood? I think it would fit well on SBS like someone mentioned above.?

If it's going to be on Network 10 their going to run ads through it? When it was ran on BBC3 it had no ads. Also your going to get annoying Cross Promotion throughout the show to watch their other shows which is annoying to me.

It doesn't matter to me one way or another as I already have series one and the declassified series as well. Wink

Gees, talk about hard to please! Laughing

I'm just over the moon that its going to be on. Hopefully it will open a window for getting all my friends into Who. It's lonely out here in Dubbo with only the school librarian for company in Who-ness. Sad
