| The New Avengers episode Complex which was on last night on UKTV had a line about radio in a shoe. A slight reference to the shoe phone in Get Smart perhaps. |

Due to a busy schedule just found out that the last update about the movie from wouldyoubelieve.com was in May:
Director Peter Segal has been hired to direct Shazam!, which means his availability in 2006 is in doubt. In addition to this there is no time for the movie to be filmed this year as a result of The Office being renewed and Steven Carrell's shooting of Evan Almighty pushed back a little bit. This seems to be good news as there is not yet a script and according to Carrell this is why it has not received a green light.
The earliest time that the movie will start production is spring (in the US) next year. |

The series began rerunning on TV 1 yesterday. So I would be giving brief comments as they are being shown. If you have memories of a particular episode that I have commented feel free to share them in this thread.
Mr Big:
Still an excellent start to the series. Worthy mention is how the cone of silence got introduce to the audience.
Diplomat's Daughter:
Introduces the Claw for the first time.
Favourite part of this episode was when Max was trying to get direction from the Claw.
School Days:
Max and 99 goes undercover at the spy school for CONTROL. It's very funny in the teaser sequence when Max knocked at the wrong place. |

Our Man In Toyland:
This is remarkably similar to The Avengers episode Death At Bargain Prices. Our Man In Toyland was shown first exactly two weeks before The Avengers episode did.
Like the phone booth sequence when Max talks to the Chief.
Max says not to make a sound yet he makes one shortly afterwards. The Fourth Doctor said and did exactly the same thing in Doctor Who. Would be very surprised if they didn't borrow it from Get Smart.
Absolutely amazing how Max and 99 beat the KAOS agents in this episode.
Now You See Him...Now You Don't:
The very first (non) appearance of the invisible wall.
Max gets approach about a invisibilty ray gun.
Funny how Max got to explain to The Chief about it and the booby traps he tried to use against the KAOS agents here. |

Washington 4, Indians 3:
This episode was about American Indians planning to wage war on the United States. It was the first time that I have ever seen the final scene. This is because when I saw the episodes when I was living in Papua New Guinea, the local station missed on showing certain scenes, including the final scene of this episode. So until some hours ago I always thought the episode ended with the penultimate scene. Thanks goodness it didn't as it would make the ending a cop-out.
Also while watching the recording of last night's Smallville, there was the usual Big Brother update in which one of the housemates was nicknamed Maxwell Smart by the host simply because his name is Max!!! |

KAOS In CONTROL:
So funny when Max tried to get the phone.
The cone of silence here is very funny especially with Hodgkins' presence.
Barbara Bain later to become a regular in another spy series Mission:Impossible guest stars here.
Thanks to watching this episode years ago I got to know about Captain Kangaroo.
It is funny on what happens when you get a merit certificate from CONTROL.
The Day Smart Turned Chicken:
A dead cowboy turned up at Max's apartment. Unbelievable how long he actually got to talk to Max with vital information.
Howard Caine who viewers would know better as Maj. Wolfgang Hochstetter in Hogan's Heroes guest stars here.
Here is an interesting line - when Max asked Mrs Dawson to see Doctor Fish she said "Doctor who?" I therefore submitted the following to TV.com which thankfully was accepted:
http://www.tv.com/get-smart/the-day-smart-turned-chicken/episode/34197/summary.html
"Doctor Who
When Max asked Mrs Dawson to see Doctor Fish she replied "Doctor who?"
Doctor Who is the name of the BBC science fiction TV show and at the time of the airing of this Get Smart episode, it had been on in the UK for a couple of years but it would not be on the US until years later. So Mrs Dawson saying "Doctor who?" is a remarkable coincidence."
The trial scene was very enjoyable and we got to know the Chief's first name.
Given the episode's title it seemed very appropriate the way it ended.
Satan Place:
The Chief is kidnapped and right under Max's nose.
The innocent looking piece of paper line is funny.
A fundraiser for the Chief's ransom. That is something you don't see everyday.
Funny how many phones Max has on him.
Very very funny on how Max and 99 rescued the Chief. |

| While waiting for the next batch of episodes this weekend, I just saw Dana Elcar (The Chief in The Nude Bomb) in The Incredible Hulk episode Escape from Los Santos and it was quite good as a villain. |

Our Man In Leotards:
The target practice is funny.
Also good is when Max meets up with 99 in the room with musical instruments.
The bit when Max was in the drum was very hilarious.
Very cute when Max said that the pen is mightier than the sword.
Too Many Chiefs:
Those who have not seen it before I won't spoiled it on why it has that title.
The girl who plays Tanya, Susanne Cramer is gorgeous. I especially like it she was in a towel and in Mac's pajamas.
Victor French makes him first ever appearance in the series but not as his familiar role of 44.
In this episode 99 mentioned the Chief's wife. This later gets contradicted in a later episode when the Chief says that he never married.
My Nephew, the Spy:
Chief mentioned a file room being caught on fire. This sequence alone is enough to guess to started that fire.
Max's aunt and uncle come to visit.
99 pretends to be a maid and unfortunately for her Aunt Bertha really employed her services and 99 really showed what she thinks of her.
Max says to the KAOS agent Victor that he does not know what kind of water he likes. As if there is any other kind of water to drink.
Uncle Abner was really unfazed with the net and the shoe phone.
The line from this episode I definitely remember was when Uncle Abner and Aunt Bertha were confused on how they are related to Max. |

Aboard The Orient Express:
Victor French finally appears as 44.
Definitely remember Max eating lots of pieces of paper her with the porter remarking "Talk about cheap" and "Monsieur still having his dinner."
Johnny Carson appears and is credited as "Special Guest Conductor".
Funny when 99 let Max know that she was on the train.
Took me a short while to remember who killed the agents in this episode and is quite funny what happened to him.
Weekend Vampire:
The last bit in the teaser sequence is funny.
Funny how the song Heart of My Heart came up.
The car broke down line was also funny.
Best part of the episode would have to be when Max was sitting behind a portrait.
Survival of the Fattest:
I actually thought up the phrase Survival of the Fattest without any awareness that this was the name of this episode. Obviously anyone could have come up with "Survival of the Fattest" as a take on the much famous "Survival of the Fittest".
Funnily enough the scene of Max with the Grill team was the exact scene I was thinking about just a few days ago.
One of the Grill team was played by Ned Romero in an unusual role that I have seen him in.
Funny parts of this episode are the following:
-When Max suddenly remember the chambermaid.
-Max showing his identity to the chambermaid.
-Max and the chambermaid having a drink.
-Max saying that female enemy agents were under arrest even though he was the one in handcuffs.
-The pat on the shoulder.
This is the second time that the Chief's first name Thaddeus has been mentioned.
For the first time Barbara Feldon does not appear in this episode as 99.
Max gets a gift from the prince he has rescued but was told to return it due to CONTROL policy. If I had that gift I definitely would not return it. |

| In the debut of the game show You Maybe Right on 7 a couple of nights ago the two opposing teams decided to call themselves CONTROL and KAOS because as Matt Parkinson from CONTROL says they are all fans of Get Smart. It was a close game and CONTROL defeated KAOS just like they did in Get Smart with a narrow margin of 300 to 290. |

Thanks dunmall.
Double Agent:
Max undercover tries to gets recruited to KAOS by convincing them he has become disillusioned with CONTROL and his task was much more difficult than he thought.
This is the episode in which we see the smallest record in the world.
Completely forgotten about the twist of the KAOS agent.
Poor old Professor Parker his invention keeps on getting broken by... well just guess.
Kisses for KAOS:
I seem to remember that I did not particularly enjoy this one about Max and 99 trying to get a set of fingerprints and picture of Rex Savage with 99 pretending to romance him. Watching it again after all this time, it looks OK.
Funny bit includes the box of Outgoing Rocks.
99 mentioned her apartment as the venue of their trap for Savage before it was changed to Max's apartment. I don't think we ever got to see her place in the show.
The Dead Spy Scrawls:
This is the episode which guest stars Leonard Nimoy as a KAOS agent and quite good at it. This would not be the only time that he would be in a spy series as he later on had a regular role in Mission: Impossible and therefore the second star from the show to appear in Get Smart after Barbara Bain in KAOS In CONTROL. Incidentally Nimoy got the Mission: Impossible job straight after the end of the original Star Trek.
It is this episode that Max paid a lot of money for a gum.
Max gets a lesson in playing pool. The result of this is something you have to see for yourself.
Here Max mentioned that the Chief's headache is contagious!!! |

Broadcasting Update:
TV1 will be showing individual episodes of Get Smart on weekdays at 6AM and 5PM from Wednesday September 13. These are presumably the episodes TV1 has already shown in its triple episode screenings on Sunday which will continue in the usual time. |

Back To The Old Drawing Board:
Dick Gautier makes his debut as Hymie. This is still in the first season. Funnily enough I thought he appreared later than that.
He doesn't takes things quite literally and Max should not have said that he knocked him out.
All In The Mind:
Torin Thatcher appears as Dr. Braam. Always good in whatever roles I have seen him in.
King Moody appears on the programme for the first time but not as his more familiar character of Starker.
This is the first time I have noticed there is a portrait of 99 in Max's apartment.
This is the one with the phone booth filled with water. Max comments that it is no ordinary phone booth. Most probably would have said the exact same thing if he ever saw the TARDIS.
The operator's line at the end of the teaser was funny. Surprised to see in the end credits that the voice of the operator was Janet Waldo who voiced many cartoon characters including Judy Jetson.
Also liked the final scene.
This episode featured a psychiatric session. Funnily enough this came two days after I saw the Stargate SG-1 episode Morpheus which also featured a psychiatric session.
Dear Diary:
Had little memories of this one as I certainly forgotten who the real villain was in this episode.
This one was about finding a retired spy's diary in a spy retirement home. The retired spy is a lot like Max. I guess there will be always be someone just like Max in the spy business. |

Bernie Kopell was the mystery guest in last night's Where Are They Now. He briefly mentioned Get Smart with stills of him as Siegfried was briefly shown. However he was there mainly to talk about his time on The Love Boat. What a pity I mean it is not like he could be bought back to the show just to talk about Get Smart.
Anyway it was a delight to see him on the show. |

| In You Maybe Right on Sunday August 27, a Get Smart question came up when Todd McKenny asked Barbara Feldon played which character on the show. Of course the answer is 99. |

Smart, the Assassin:
Max has been brainwashed in killing the Chief as a result of a game of chess and oh my it is not as easy as it seems.
I'm Only Human:
The funniest bit from this episode was a bee and the cone of silence.
I think this is Fang's last appearance in the series.
Stakeout on Blue Mist Mountain:
This is an absolute delight.
Fang's gets mention by Max, probably for the last time.
I love Max's interrogation technique as it did not involve any torture at all. Real life interrogaters probably wished they had his technique.
Ted Knight appeared in this episode. I didn't realise it was him the last time I saw it. Appearing as a KAOS agent he is definitely nothing like his Mary Tyler Moore Show character Ted Baxter.
Very hilarious the way two KAOS agents got killed in the cabin.
Very intense scene involving an atomic bomb.
It's interesting how on two occasions in this episode Max's tie plays a key role in the plot. |
