Saw this last night for the first night. Started promisingly but then just went downhill. Bloody hell its bad!

What's with the relationship between Billy and the Queen. They've barely spoken, if at all actually, and he walks in on her with a green baby and is completely nonplussed.

It's like nobody checked it for continuity or anything like that at all. And the cliffhanger at the end of episode two was ridiculous!

Also saw Paradise Towers earlier in the day( I'm a student and I've just finished finals, its allowed) and I thought that was bad. Neither of them really felt like Dr Who although Towers could have been better realised.

And the music in both is terrible! I dread to think what people must have been thinking having to sit through that season as it aired week by week!

Of course you're welcome to disagree. Everyone has their own opinions. I even quite like the Happiness Patrol Embarassed

I actually do disagree! I liked the light-hearted feel of the episode (despite the idea of hitmen tracking down an alien queen), and thought that was reflected well in the music.

As for the relationship between Billy and Delta, I've found that to be quite similar to a number of other relationships in Classic Who. Susan decided to stay on Earth with David after knowing him for what, a day? Cliff just assumed Jo would marry him after only knowing her for a couple of hours. Leela decided to stay on Gallifrey with Andred after a couple of hours, and there was no attraction shown between them that I could see. So I actually liked Billy's acceptance of the situation and his willingness to go with Delta.

I'm not totally sure that the invasion of earth was so short. Doc who's generally stay around for a few days in an episode and although it isn't shown there are usually many moments which they don't bother to show and Susan's deep realisation could only have settled on one place if she had been there for a good amount of time, plus the number of eps seems to drag on and on and on and it was meant to ba an epic so .. maybe...
I like to think of it as at least a week or two.

Nope I agree, this episode annoyed me when I saw it originally and then it annoyed me more when I re-watched it a couple of years ago. A galactic toll booth? Ken Dodd? Why anyone would hide on earth when it's clearly a planet that every alien species has heard of it not tried to invade is just beyond me. The music is terrible and I found the whole affair just depressing.
