I think, given computer games today and how realistic they are getting (and this is not a bad thing in my book), this was a very chilling story. Imagine if this happened for real?
I think it was well built up, the action meted out and not all in the one spot and it was great to see Mickey in a novel. He came across so well,

I agree, Mickey was being used so well up until the last couple of chapters...it was a shame to see him disappear. It was good to see something he was good at for a change though *grin*
Now, when's the novel with Captain Jack coming out????

I finished the novel yesterday and I thought it was brilliant. I loved the relationship between the Doctor and Robert, the young boy who was captured by the Queevils. I thought the multipul story lines worked well and it was a nice tieing of ends at the finish of the book. I really enjoyed this one! |

| Plus it's got Mickey and Jackie, so what more could you want? |

still haven't read Monsters Inside but I'm currently reading Winner Takes All aloud to my kids (which means my wife is listening in too) and they all seem to be enjoying it |

Finally after putting it off for months, I decided to get into the new novels.
I chose this one first as I enjoy Jac Raynors audio scripts.
I was a little let down on the style of writing. Am I missing something or is this aimed at a very young adult audience? I didn't seem to have the depth to it that the PDA's have.
She did get the characterisations pretty accurate though.
Will prolly go for Clockwise man next, as that story appeals to me more. Not a big fan of the Slitheens. |

I've read this book twice now (once aloud to my kids) and I remain mystified as to how the Quevvils are finally defeated.

I get that Rose reaches the "inner sanctum" of Mantodean stronghold and the Quevvils activate their teleport device, but how are they then vaporised? and why was it crucial to time the return of the liberated human players for precisely the moment of teleportation?

my wife (who listened to the book when I read it aloud) couldn't work this out either. I'll be most grateful to anyone who can explain (either in this thread or via PM) exactly what went down. |

| I actually enjoyed the premise behind the book. I had a lazy afternoon over Christmas so I read it - light on, but good characterisation! |

| It is my least favourite of the 6 new books storywise, but I do feel it has the best characterisation of the Doctor & Rose. |
