Hello, Smile

I just wanted to thank Joel for his hospitality last night.

I left at 3.30AM during Ark in Space and had to dodge our own Wirren to get to my backpack.

Pizza was good. Beer was good. Plastic cups were good too. Smile

A special thanks to the people who travelled all the way to Dee Why for the evening when it is a truly long-haul voyage to get there via public transport. To be honest, I wouldn't do it.

If the membership is predominantly based west of Sydney, then most of the events should be conducted out there, but it was still nice to have an event in my neck of the woods too. Smile

Thank you once again Joel, for your hospitality.

Hello! I'm just new to this forum and I am interested in meeting other Dr Who fans in the Sydney area. Will there be a pub night in early May? Where do you usually meet? And what does the upcoming Drummoyne RSL event involve?

Hehe, I'm having a video night on my own in about half-an-hour, when the pizzas arrive. Smile

The monthly pub get-together (known as "Tavern") is held at the Town Hall Hotel, which is right next to the Newtown railway station. When you exit the station, take a left-turn and walk maybe twenty metres?

I think "Tavern" is normally the first Friday of each month, but this month it was moved to Friday the 13th of April because of Easter and then the video evening was held the following Friday the 20th. Video evenings are normally mid-month I think.

It is best to contact Dallas and keep an eye on this forum. Smile

If "Tavern" (our pub get-together) is on the the first Friday in May I may not be able to make it due to another engagement. Sad

Below is a screen-grab from WhereIs and the "Tavern" is in the crosshairs at 326 King Street, Newtown. Smile

EDIT: Oh, and about the day event on the sixth of May. I have only been to one Doctor Who day event at Drummoyne RSL and what I experienced was a casual afternoon with a friendly bunch of people. They screened some episodes of Doctor Who and other Who-related material and they had a little quiz with prizes and stalls and so on. Some people came dressed as a character from the series - usually one of the Doctors. Smile

They have special guests from the series from time to time so if you are an autograph hunter you may have an opportunity for a signing at some point.

I am probably not a true "fan" because I am not fanatical about Doctor Who but more of an "enthusiast" as it was my favourite show growing up. The revival has rekindled my interested but my real favourite at the moment is Galactica.

Thanks, Seamus, for your info. I'm also not a Dr Who 'fanatic' myself but my interest in all things Who has been rekindled so I'm looking forward to learning more! Thanks for the map, too! I hope there is a tavern night this Friday.
