Free Doctor Who exhibition at ABC Ultimo Centre

In celebration of 50 years of Doctor Who, the ABC and BBC Worldwide ANZ are opening a commemorative exhibition here in Australia, to be held at the ABC Ultimo Centre, Sydney.

Doctor Who: Celebrating 50 Years of Adventures in Space and Time will be open to the public from 15 August until 31 January next year. It will feature various costumes (including those of the Tenth Doctor and Astrid Peth), monsters (such as a Cybermat, Dalek and Ood head), a TARDIS and more.

ABC Managing Director Mark Scott noted, “I believe that in the long history of the ABC, there has only ever been one programme for which we believed the Australian rights must cover all time and space dimensions - and that is the magnificent Doctor Who. We are delighted to be able to celebrate both its past and its endlessly fascinating future.”

The free exhibition will be open weekdays from 9am-5pm (excluding 2-6 September due to the election) and on the following weekends from 10am-5pm:

  • 17-18 August
  • 31 August-1 September
  • 5-6 October
  • 2-3 November
  • 23-24 November
  • 25-27 January (long weekend)

And for those who won’t be able to attend, ABC Shops around the country, as well as www.abcshop.com.au, will be featuring some exclusive items of Doctor Who souvenir merchandise and collectables.
